Hi, I'm Patrick Revell from ABC News. We are in Kyiv, at one of the waste paper processing plants, where hundreds of Russian books will now be pressed. As you can see, these people throw them into a bucket and then they will be turned into paper pulp. There is a wide variety of literature here. Here I see several volumes of Tolstoy, books about the victory of the USSR in World War II, books about Soviet tanks. This is all the initiative of one bookstore in the center of Kyiv, where residents bring Russian books for recycling because they no longer want to see them in their homes. Here they will not just be destroyed, but, according to them, transformed into something more useful. This is a very clear symbol of Ukraine’s rejection of Russian culture.
